GPS trackers
GPS tracker is a state of the art technology which takes the advantage of the space science and the GSM technology to shrink the earth into a global village. It relies on the Global Position System satellite navigation network to calculate location, send the signal back to the receiver which in turn, makes it available to the GSM handsets, via the receiver, in the form of area coordinates. These coordinate which include the longitude and latitude are decoded by the use of Google Map or Google Earth free softwares. The information that comes with the received signal includes location coordinates, the speed of the device, the battery strength and time. Some devices log the information, while others send the data to servers.
The user installs a registered SIM card of any communication network in the device. When the number of the SIM is dialed, the receiver prompts the space satellite for the coordinate of the position, which it forwards to the dialing GSM number. By so doing, the exact position of the device is located. The information could be sent to only designated number or other authorized numbers. Other operations that could be carried out other than device location, include
1.Logging the journey history
2.Remote controlling of the device like
a.switching on and off the vehicle it
b.viewing the speed of the vehicle
c.checking the fuel and oil status of the vehicle
d.fencing a vehicle
e.listening to the conversation in the vehicle.
